Second Avenue NE Water Main Replacements
Back to SearchMedicine Hat - The City of Medicine Hat is replacing water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer infrastructure along Second Avenue NE from First Street NE to Fourth Street NE. Much of this infrastructure is approaching or has passed the 100 year mark and must be replaced; in addition there will be drainage and surface improvements. Construction will commence on May 7, 2018 and anticipate to be completed by September 2018, weather dependent.
The work will be accomplished in three stages
Stage one: May 7 to mid-June. from Finlay Bridge to, and including, the intersection at Second Street NE
Stage two: June 7 to late July. From Second Street to just north of the Third Street intersection including Third Street east of Second Avenue.
Stage three: August 1 to mid-September. From north of the Third Street intersection to the end of Fourth Street.

There will be road closures in each stage with detours in place; no through traffic or vehicle access will be permitted within the construction area. Residents will be able to access their homes through the back alley and/or on their street as Second Street and Third Street intersections will not be closed at the same time. All road closures will allow for pedestrian access on sidewalks. Residents are asked to be aware of heavy construction equipment within the construction boundaries and on surrounding traffic routes.
Residents are invited to attend a Public Information Session, held at St. Patrick’s Church in the Parish Hall on Wednesday, May 2 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.
