South Railway Construction Update
Medicine Hat – On Monday July 23, 2018, construction will start on the final portion of Stage 5 of the South Railway Street project, at the Kingsway Avenue SE intersection.
In order to complete the project as quickly and efficiently as possible, traffic accommodations will be implemented.
map (pdf)
• South Railway Street will be open to two-way traffic up to 6th Street SE, with local traffic only west of 6th Street SE.
• Eastbound and westbound South Railway traffic will be detoured onto 6th Street SE, to and from Kingsway Avenue.
This portion of construction is expected to finish in 2-3 weeks (weather dependent), at which time the majority of construction related to the utility and road upgrades will be completed. Traffic detours will no longer be required once surface asphalt has been installed following completion of Stage 5 construction.
Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to obey all traffic signs/signals and drive safely around work crews. We thank everyone for their support and patience as we undertake this important project and would like to remind the public that access to all local businesses continues to be maintained.
