Temporary road closure on Division Avenue N
Back to SearchMedicine Hat – Starting Tuesday, Oct. 19, Division Avenue N between 20 Street NE/NW and Northlands Way NE will be closed for approximately one week for upgrades to the natural gas distribution system. This represents the stretch of road running adjacent to the ball diamonds at the Big Marble Go Centre.
Workers will conduct excavation and directional boring under the roadway to upgrade gas infrastructure serving the north end of the city. These necessary improvements will support future growth and address low pressure concerns.
Northbound traffic will be detoured west on 20 Street NW past the Big Marble Go Centre and around to Rotary Centennial Drive. Southbound traffic will be detoured to east on Northlands Way NE and back out to Parkview Drive NE.
The trail on the west side of Division Avenue N will remain open for pedestrian access. The sidewalk on the east side of Division Avenue N will be closed through construction.
Residents are asked to exercise caution around the work area and obey all construction signage and detours. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the City continues to perform necessary maintenance and upgrades, and residents are asked to allow crews space to work safely.
