Three Become One

A group of local entrepreneurs partnered together to open Fleet Street Automotive Inc., a general automotive repair shop that specializes in fleet maintenance, engine replacements, and detailing.

Josh Martens, owner of QCP Enterprises and Community Relations Director of Fleet Street Automotive Inc., noticed a gap in Medicine Hat for services specific to fleets. He found himself often traveling to cater to his fleets and once he found businesses that could, their hours didn’t always align with his.

Martens invited his employee Josh Pratt to be the shop manager, and friend Bryan Petersen to be the Director of Finance of the fleet-based business, and they both eagerly accepted. Since the opening of Fleet Street Automotive Inc., Petersen says the community has enjoyed having a local fleet service in the city.

“We’ve had a great response from the community, because the business model is perfected based on Marten’s experience in owning a fleet, and Pratt is an expert in his field,” says Petersen.

Finding a location was not an issue for the trio. The industrial area immediately caught their attention, with its proximity to Highway 3 and its community of like-minded businesses.

“There’s steady traffic outside, we’re right beside a residential area, where we’ve even gained some customers from, and the whole area aligns with what we’re offering here,” says Martens.

All three have moved from Brooks to Medicine Hat and are pleased with how successfully they have seized new opportunities.

Petersen’s move was originally for employment, which has led him to becoming a “serial entrepreneur” owning Petersen Accounting Services, Alberta Wide Virtual Accounting, 4 Seasons Property Care Inc., and Bridge Studios.

Pratt moved to Medicine Hat with his family to pursue larger career opportunities, and to enjoy some favourite family spots including Elkwater and other nearby attractions to Medicine Hat.

Martens moved to Medicine Hat 15 years ago for a change, and a change he found indeed.

Fleet Street Automotive Inc. is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Anticipating a growing need, the shop offers after hours and mobile services, where they are servicing vehicles on the customer’s property for their convenience, in addition to the businesses permanent space.

“We are very accommodating to what people need. We want to be here for the community, and the community has definitely shown that they are here for us, too,” says Pratt.

Fleet Street Automotive is located at #1, 1015 30 Street SW, and can be found at https://fleetstreet.ca/
