Three new widgets launched on Medicine Hat’s myMH Portal

Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat has launched three new widgets today on the myMH portal: Assessment Information, Trails Near Me, and Volunteer Opportunities.

The myMH Portal allows users to create a custom, personalized dashboard of tailored content they care most about. It is different than a website in two ways:

  • The portal is personalized to each user; they pick which widgets they want to see.
  • It is unique to their location by drawing data based on a certain property address.
Assessment Information

The Assessment Information widget automatically recognizes the property selected in the user’s profile and brings up the most recent assessed value of the property, the corresponding Tax Account number, the year the property was built, and a link to the most recent comparable market sales information in the area. Users can click the property address to be directed to the interactive property assessment map for further information and analysis.

Trails Near Me

The Trails Near Me widget identifies the nearest trails located within 500 metres of the property selected in the user’s profile. The widget identifies how far a person would need to walk or travel to access the trail, the length of the trail itself, and the material from which the trail is constructed. A click on the trail name will take the user directly to the location of the specific trail on the City’s iMap. Selecting “View more” will provide trail usage information and links to access the Trailforks app on Google Play and the App Store.

Volunteer Opportunities

The Volunteer Opportunities widget allows direct access to the City’s volunteer scheduling system for opportunities at places like Co-op Place, Esplanade and more, and also a link to an area on the City’s website detailing additional positions like Adopt-a-rink, Advisory Boards and Committees, or the Parks and Trails Ambassador program.

“We are really trying to offer an environment where residents use the myMH Portal for your information, and the City website for more information,” says Craig Fruin, Manager of Application Services at the City of Medicine Hat. “Users have even more flexibility in the portal to set certain push notifications on a widget-by-widget basis to alert them directly of the info that is most important to them.”

Other widgets include: Alerts, News, City Council Meetings, Community Events, Garbage & Recycling, Road Closures, Major Projects, Careers, COVID-19 Updates, Report a Problem, Medicine Hat Police Service, eUtility, Parks Trails & Playgrounds, Property Tax, Recreation, Shape Your City, and HAT Smart.

Staff will continue to upgrade and enhance the myMH Portal and are currently working on transforming the current Property Tax widget to an integrated widget that will bring personalized tax information right onto the page.

“This is a living, growing platform and we look forward to what possibilities lie ahead,” adds Fruin.

The myMH Portal launched on September 15, 2021 in conjunction with the City’s upgraded website. The City of Medicine Hat thanks the Government of Canada for supporting this project through the COVID-19 Resilience funding stream under the existing Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP). The ICIP COVID-19 Resilience Stream targets a broad range of projects that can be actioned and completed quickly to support employment and economic activity to help offset challenges brought on by the pandemic.
