Medicine Hat – With the development work complete at Towne Square, the Public Services Division is preparing for activation and operation.

“There is a lot of planning to do and we are looking forward to engaging with the community,” said Aaron Nelson, Manager of Cultural Events and Experiences. “We have seen lots of diverse interest in the sea can rentals and events and are excited to bring the space to life this summer.”

The City will look for innovative and creative ideas for Towne Square which complement the downtown community and help drive foot traffic.

“We acknowledge that the first season will be a pilot year,” said Nelson. “The operations team are exploring new and innovative solutions for things like parking, sea can painting and rentals, licensing, and food truck operations. We appreciate the patience from both residents and businesses as we find our rhythm for the space this season.”

While the plans are finalized for Towne Square, the City will continue to offer FREE public parking until the anticipated opening in June 2022.

Residents and businesses interested in renting a sea can or the space for an event, are encouraged to email townesquare@medicinehat.ca.
