Wage and Skill Level of Candidate
The current living wage is based on the Alberta Living Wage Network 2023 Report. Participating employers must pay a minimum living wage of $17.35 per-hour, OR the Lethbridge-Medicine Hat region prevailing median wage for the occupation. This information can be located on the Canada Job Bank Wage Report. The provincial median-wage may be used if no regional rate is available.
Every occupation in Canada is classified using the Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibility (TEER) system. The second digit of a National Occupation Classification (NOC) code corresponds to the occupations TEER level.
Candidates are required to meet provincial work experience eligibility requirements as identified on the Alberta Advantage Immigration Rural Renewal Stream website.
Canadians and Locals First
Job vacancies must be available to people living in the community first. Participating employers are required to advertise vacant positions on Canada Job Bank and Indeed for a minimum of 3-months. Positions advertised must meet the eligibility requirements of the Southeast Alberta Rural Renewal. All vacancies will be available on the Southeast Alberta Immigration Job Board. All job seekers are encouraged to apply.
Employment Letter and Resume
Job Offer Forms must be accompanied by a letter of employment and a current resume of the candidate.
Post-Graduation Work Permit holders who have completed a two-year post-secondary education program at Medicine Hat College are not required to meet the 12 months of work experience criterion.
Employers Currently Employing a Temporary Resident
Participating employers who currently employ temporary residents may sponsor the non-permanent resident for an endorsement letter by submitting a Rural Renewal Job Offer for that individual. If the candidate is already working in the occupation, employers are not required to submit a Notice of Job Vacancy.
Employers suspected of charging fees or accepting funds in exchange for an offer of employment to a foreign national will be suspended from the Southeast Alberta Rural Renewal without reimbursement of any kind and will be reported to Alberta Employment Standards and the Canadian Temporary Foreign Worker Advisory Office.
