Who We Are
Community Resource Worker Program is a service offered through Senior Services to all residents of Medicine Hat. Working closely in partnerships, we serve:
- Older persons, families, and friends;
- Formal and informal caregivers;
- Community organizations, social service agencies, advocacy groups, volunteer associations; and
- Anyone interested in the well-being of older persons.
What We Do
Community Resource Workers will help you or your family, connect with the community resources that best suit your situation. Sometimes life's events seem overwhelming. You may not know where to turn for the facts you
need to make important decisions. Finding the right resources can make all the difference in comfort for you or your family.
The Meals on Wheels program is run by our team of staff and volunteers, which delivers nutritious dinners to consumers who are unable to prepare their own. The Meals on Wheels program offers an additional level of support by creating a personal link to a Community Resource Worker.
Why We Do It
At Senior Services, we believe access to information will help you plan for the future, and stay independent as long as you possibly can. Many older persons may need a little help to keep living on their own. A Community Resource Worker will help you make that connection.
Our strong network of community partners works together to problem-solve and educate on issues about: Crime Prevention; Family Matters; Housing or Lodging; Income Support; Mental Health; Nutrition; Physical Well-being; Recreation or Socialization; and, Transportation.
We work in partnership with several community organizations to provide additional supports for adults 50-plus. As well as the partnerships listed below, we work with community partners to provide the Drop-in Lifelong Learning Series and the Live and Learn Programs.
- Senior Citizens Advisory Committee (SCAC)
- Medicine Hat Community Response to Abuse and Neglect of Elders
