How do I prepare myself and my family for a disaster?
Disasters can occur at any time. Knowing the potential risks for your region can help you prepare yourself and your family.

Public Safety Canada advises that you should be prepared to take care of yourself and your family for a minimum of 72 hours if a disaster happens in your community because it may take emergency workers time to get to you as they help those in desperate need first.

You can lessen the impact of any emergency or disaster by knowing what to do before, during and after an emergency and by having your emergency kits ready.  Visit the Government of Canada's Get Prepared website for helpful website and download your free Emergency Preparedness Guide, or create your own Emergency Preparedness Plan.  You can also visit the Public Safety Canada to see the federal government's emergency framework.
