Recycling refers to the process of collecting used materials usually considered to be “waste” and reprocessing them. In this process these used materials are sorted and processed for use as raw materials for the production of new products. Recycling varies from reuse in the sense that while reuse just means using old products repeatedly, recycling means using the core elements of an old product as raw material to manufacture new goods.
How to Recycle
Currently, there are four recycling depots located throughout Medicine Hat. Take your recyclable materials including cardboard, plastic, mixed paper, newspaper, tin and glass to one of the depots for recycling. Other items such as HHW, e-waste, paint and oil can be recycled by taking them to the Waste Management Facility for proper diversion.
Refer to the Drop-off Depots page for location information for each Recycling Drop-off Depot.
