Residential Collection Schedule
Residential waste carts are emptied weekly based on a zone collection schedule. Scheduled collection days advance with each statutory holiday or staff training day as noted in the schedule and will be advertised in the public notice section of the Medicine Hat Newspaper prior to the scheduled change.
For residential waste collection schedules and information, download the MyWaste App to your smartphone at no charge. The App can be set up to send you alerts and to also receive reminders prior to collection day. Reporting issues with collection or submitting requests is made easy with the “Report a Problem” feature.
Alternatively, you can view and/or print the collection schedule below. This year, 2017, is the last year that the Solid Waste Utility will prepare and distribute the Waste Management Calendar booklet. The Utility will still send the one-page calendar and zone map with your December Utility Bill but encourage you to utilize the MyWaste App on your smartphone or the MyWaste Collection Schedule web app below.

Yard Waste Collection
Yard waste carts are emptied on the same day as household waste collection but only on a seasonal basis beginning on the Monday of the third full week in April and ending in the Fall on the Friday of the second full week in November.
Don’t forget to set out properly!
Set carts apart and away from obstacles to ensure they can be emptied by the collection trucks. Remember, if you can walk around each cart comfortably then you have enough room for the trucks to access each cart for collection.
For businesses or multi-unit dwellings that have commercial collection provided to them by the Solid Waste Utility, collection of the bins is based on what is requested of the Utility at the time of application for service. Collection days are posted on the bins and may only change should a holiday fall on that scheduled collection day.
