Commercial Backflow Prevention TestersDCVA Device

Anyone wishing to offer backflow prevention assembly testing services to customers in Medicine Hat must be registered with the City of Medicine Hat Environmental Utilities. When registering, please be prepared to provide the following:

  • A copy of your company’s current City of Medicine Hat Business License
  • A copy of your company’s Certificate of Insurance
  • A copy of your valid AWWA Cross Connection Control Specialist Certificate
  • A copy of a current calibration certificate for your test kit equipment
  • Six copies of completed test reports within the last 12 months (unless you are a newly certified tester)

Non-Commercial Backflow Prevention Testers

Any company/corporation wishing to have their own employee(s) test the backflow prevention devices within their company/institution/organization may do so by having their employee(s) register with the City of Medicine Hat Environmental Utilities as a Non-Commercial Tester. Non-Commercial testers are restricted to testing only devices belonging to the sponsoring company/institution/organization. A Non-Commercial Tester may NOT offer testing services to the public. When registering, please be prepared to provide the following:

  • A copy of your company’s current City of Medicine Hat Business License
  • A copy of your company’s Certificate of Insurance
  • A copy of your valid AWWA Cross Connection Control Specialist Certificate
  • A copy of a current calibration certificate for your test kit equipment
  • Six copies of completed test reports within the last 12 months (unless you are a newly certified tester)

Test Kit Calibration

Test Kit Calibration is the responsibility of the tester or testing company. All Test Kit Calibration information must be provided to the City of Medicine Hat Environmental Utilities to ensure that all tests being completed are valid.
