During inspections for residential re-occupation of the River Flats as the 2013 flood waters receded, it was observed that a number of residences experienced structural failures or were damaged by what were called ‘‘sinkholes’’.

A public safety concern was raised within the Planning, Building & Development Services (PB&DS) department because these failures or anomalies appeared to show a location pattern within the Flats area. It was suspected these residential “sinkholes” were flood related, and as such a sinkhole study was conducted throughout the River Flats neighbourhood.

A project outline and results of the study will be handed out at the Open House, or can call Planning, Building & Development department at 403.529.8374 for more information.
