In order to ensure the safety of you and those around you, please review the following guidelines:

Lock It Up!

The Family Leisure Centre aquatic and fitness change room lockers now require the use of your own padlock or combination lock. If you do not have one, locks are available for purchase from the front desk.

Footwear

In order to ensure your safety and keep our facility clean, we ask that you bring appropriate indoor shoes to work out in the gymnasium, fieldhouse, fitness centre and track area.

  • Children under 8 years of age must be under the direct supervision in the water by a responsible person 16 years or older, within arm’s reach, in all areas of the Aquatic facility.
  • All injuries must be reported to the lifeguards.
  • Prior to entering the pool, swimmers are required to have a cleansing shower with soap.
  • Persons on medication for high blood pressure, heart condition, or other medical conditions must consult with their physician prior to use of the hot tub or steam room.
  • Only service animals are permitted in the facility.
  • Food is prohibited in the change rooms and on deck. Beverages in non-glass containers are allowed in viewing areas only.
  • This is a family facility.
    • Any offensive language/ behavior, or patrons under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be tolerated.
  • Please remove shoes prior to entering the Aquatic area.
  • Walking is allowed. No running please.
  • Goggles or masks with tempered glass are prohibited.
  • Have a safe and enjoyable visit!

Fitness Area

  • Patrons that are 12 & 13 can access the Fitness Area (east side only) and patrons that are 14 & 15 can access the entire fitness area. Both age groups are encouraged to complete a complimentary orientation prior to first access.
  • It is important to listen to your body, know your limits, and adapt accordingly.
  • Please follow equipment directions and trainer instructions carefully.
  • Please enjoy food and drink downstairs. Protein mixes and colored drinks will permanently stain the running track. Water only in the fitness area.
  • Use courtesy; share the equipment, avoid playing loud music, etc.
  • Please refrain from dropping weights.
  • Put weights away after use.
  • Wiping down equipment helps ensure a safe, clean and sanitary facility.
  • This is a family facility; offensive language or behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Please report any comments, concerns or damaged equipment to facility staff immediately.
  • In case of emergency, contact facility staff for assistance.

Track

  • Children between the ages of 8-11 years can utilize the track while actively supervised by a responsible person over the age of 16.
  • Track changes direction daily:
    • Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday - Clockwise
    • Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday - Counter-clockwise
  • Lanes are single file. Slower users please use the inside lane. Faster users gain right of way by calling “pass” and then passing on the outside.
  • Wear clean, non-marking, appropriate footwear.
  • Strollers with clean wheels are welcome.
  • Walking poles are permitted provided that rubber boot or bell tips are utilized.
  • Use lockers to store bags, jackets and other personal items.
  • This is a family facility; offensive language or behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Resalable plastic water bottles only; no other food or beverage allowed.
  • In case of emergency, contact facility staff for assistance

Gymnasium 

  • Wear clean, non-marking appropriate footwear.
  • Strollers with clean wheels are welcome.
  • Use the plastic floor hockey sticks provided. No tape or wooden sticks please.
  • This is a family facility; offensive language or behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Pinnies are available – no need for skins.
  • Hanging on hoops or nets will damage the equipment and is discouraged.
  • Return all equipment to the proper storage cart after use.
  • Equipment room access is limited to City of Medicine Hat Facility Attendants. Please ask at the front desk for assistance.
  • Use change room lockers to store bags, jackets and other personal items.
  • When your session has concluded, ensure the area is left tidy for the next scheduled activity.
  • Report any concerns or damaged equipment to facility staff immediately.
  • In case of emergency, contact facility staff for assistance

Remember to have your Facility Pass/proof of admission on you at all times as spot checks are performed. Proper attire (including shirt, bottoms, and clean footwear) is required.
