Since its inception in 2007, Jane’s Walk has happened in cities across North America, and is growing internationally. To learn more about the Jane's Walk projects around the world, please visit

Jane's Walk has been a huge success since it came to Medicine Hat in 2012, bringing in over 75 participants each year!

Feedback from the Jane’s Walk participants in our four neighborhood tours tells us there was a lot of interest in getting to know what shapes the fabric of our community. The history, stories, and knowledge that each of the local volunteer tour guides shared with the community added value and excitement to building awareness of our neighborhoods in Medicine Hat.

Comments from Past Jane's Walk Participants
Riverside Walk
"… just wanted to say how fabulous this evening's walk was. It was very well organized and informative. I did the Riverside walk with Jim, and I could have listened to him talk for another 2 - 3 hours - there is so much interesting information. We started at Fresh and I was just stunned by their generosity in giving us all a rose. We even saw a beaver in the South Saskatchewan River. I would dearly love to be kept informed of when you are arranging another walk."

Downtown Walk
"The tour is fascinating and interesting. I enjoyed the interior tours of the upstairs apartment and the Cypress Club."

River Flats Walk
"… was such a great experience! I learned a lot about the neighbourhood and I think it definitely showcased a "walkable" community. Our tour guide, Michelle, was very good and I like that she focused on some of the nature highlights. I can't wait until next year!"

First Street Walk
"… very interesting information about the history & politics of the area. Interesting group dynamics. Excellent well informed tour guide. Good weather!"
