The City of Medicine Hat’s Environmental Utilities and Municipal Works Departments are planning two major construction projects on South Railway Street in 2017. These important projects will replace aging infrastructure, meeting Council’s strategic priority to ensure high-quality, well-maintained and affordable municipal infrastructure, with attention to our deep utilities and transportation network.
Project Updates and details will be posted on the project webpages.
Work will include road rehabilitation and improvements, deep utility upgrades and improved pedestrian and cycling connectivity. Throughout these projects, businesses and services will remain open.
The Photo Gallery provides an up close look at work being done, and lets everyone see the deep utilities infrastructure that runs under our streets and provides us with water, sanitary and storm services. Photos will be added throughout the construction on South Railway Street.
Project Timing and Stages
Work begins this spring, and be completed in the fall of 2017. Each project will be carried out in planned stages in an effort to minimize impacts to residents and businesses. Timing for these stages will be shared by the Contractors in a Public Information Session to be scheduled before work begins. Ongoing project updates will be provided on the Project Pages below.
