John “Percy” Bray was a pillar of community sport in Medicine Hat, remembered for his passion, dedication, and lasting impact on generations of young athletes. As an original founder of the Medicine Hat Minor Baseball Association, Percy devoted 25 years to coaching, managing, and organizing sports for boys aged six to twenty, shaping not only their athletic skills but also their character and love of the game. His commitment to youth development extended beyond baseball; in 1954, he also played a key role in helping to develop the Medicine Hat Minor Hockey Association. Through countless hours of volunteer leadership, Percy Bray helped build strong foundations for local sport, leaving a legacy of teamwork, mentorship, and community pride that continues to be felt today.
