Kelly Risling stands as one of Alberta’s most accomplished and decorated amateur golfers, recognized for both sustained excellence and competitive dominance over decades. Crowned the Alberta Mid-Amateur Golf Champion in 1996, Kelly represented the province with distinction as a member of the Alberta Provincial Team in 1996, 1997, 2002, 2004, and 2009, and was also selected for Alberta’s Canadian Mid-Amateur National Championship team in 2002. His competitive résumé is remarkable in both breadth and consistency: as of 2018, Kelly had captured more than 160 championship titles, including an extraordinary 25 Medicine Hat City Championships, 30 Club Championships, and 47 Open Championships—highlighted by 13 Victoria Day Opens, 9 Southeastern Opens, and 25 Redcliff Opens. His achievements reflect not only elite skill and longevity, but a deep commitment to the sport and a lasting legacy in Alberta and Medicine Hat golf.
