Dr. Ken Sauer is widely respected as a transformative leader and tireless champion of sport and recreation, whose vision and dedication have had a lasting impact on the community. He was the driving force behind the completion of the Rotary Track at Crescent Heights High School, a facility that continues to serve athletes at all levels, and he played a key leadership role in attracting and organizing numerous provincial and national sporting events. Renowned for a lifetime of volunteerism in recreation, Dr. Sauer’s contributions have been recognized with some of Canada’s highest honours, including his appointment to the Order of Canada in 2009, the Alberta Order of Excellence in 2009, and the Alberta Centennial Medal in 2006, among many others. His enduring legacy is defined by service, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to creating opportunities through sport.
