Larry Godin is a highly respected figure in Medicine Hat hockey, known for his leadership, inclusivity, and decades of service to the sport. A certified NCCP Level 3 Hockey Coach since the 1980s and a Level 3 Hockey Official, Larry played a pivotal role in building and advancing both Sledge Hockey and Female Hockey programs in the community, helping ensure opportunities for athletes of all abilities. A dedicated member of the Medicine Hat Hockey Hounds Association, his influence extended to the international stage when he became the first Canadian ever invited to officiate at the Paralympic Games in Nagano, Japan, in 1998. His outstanding contributions have been widely recognized, including being named Alberta Amateur Hockey Coach of the Year (Silver) in 1987 and receiving one of Hockey Alberta’s Centennial Awards in 2007, honouring his major impact on minor hockey across the province.
