For twenty-five years Laurie has been an organizer of sport – serving with the Youth Bowling Council, the 5-Pin Bowling Association and as an instructor for countless numbers of young people.
Laurie has been instrumental in the Medicine Hat Stampede Queen contest for a dozen years and served as co-coordinator of the Medicine Hat Tigerettes group to provide that support service to Junior A hockey as well as further helping with administration of the Junior B Cubs program. She was a prime mover behind the Kinsmen Summer Swim Club and spent much time working on swimming and bowling programs for children with developmental disabilities.
Laurie Sharland’s name stands as a shining example of how much good can come from deep community concern.
