Laurie Sharland has been a dedicated and influential force in Medicine Hat’s community and youth recreation for decades, contributing her time and energy to a wide range of programs. For 25 years, she played a central role in organizing the Youth Bowling Council and the 5-Pin Bowling Association, helping young bowlers grow their skills and confidence in a supportive environment. Her commitment to community involvement also extended to many years of work with the Medicine Hat Stampede Queen contest and the coordination of the Medicine Hat Tigerettes, where she fostered leadership and pride. In addition, Laurie was instrumental in establishing the Kinsmen Summer Swim Club, creating new opportunities for recreation and athletic development. Her lasting impact is marked by tireless volunteerism and a deep commitment to enriching the lives of young people in Medicine Hat.
