Murray Craven is one of Medicine Hat’s most accomplished hockey alumni, whose career reflects talent, perseverance, and success at the highest levels of the game. His journey began locally in 1975, when he started playing Junior B with the Hat Pipeline Cubs before moving on to the Medicine Hat Tigers, where he quickly established himself as an elite competitor. Murray went on to enjoy an outstanding 15‑season NHL career, playing more than 1,000 games with six different teams and earning a reputation as a skilled, intelligent, and durable player. His accomplishments also extended to the international stage as a member of Canada’s silver‑medal‑winning team at the 1992 World Championship. Murray Craven’s career stands as a proud example of Medicine Hat’s rich hockey tradition and the success that can grow from it.
