Rod Carry was a driving force in the growth and development of organized sport in Medicine Hat, dedicating more than 20 years to minor soccer, hockey, baseball, and the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede. A visionary hockey builder, he played a key role in developing competitive hockey locally through teams such as the Joyline Blades in the 1960s and the Medicine Hat Senior Monarchs, helping elevate the level of play and opportunity for athletes in the region. His most significant impact came in 1971, when he was instrumental in re‑establishing junior hockey in the community with the formation of the Medicine Hat Tigers. Rod Carry’s leadership and commitment helped shape Medicine Hat’s rich sporting tradition and left a lasting legacy in community and elite sport development.
