Rod Carry was a driving force in the growth and development of organized sport in Medicine Hat, dedicating more than 20 years to minor soccer, hockey, baseball, and the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede. A visionary hockey builder, he played a key role in developing competitive hockey locally through teams such as the Joyline Blades in the 1960s and the Medicine Hat Senior Monarchs, helping elevate the level of play and opportunity for athletes in the region. His most significant impact came in 1971, when he was instrumental in re‑establishing junior hockey in the community with the formation of the Medicine Hat Tigers. Rod Carry’s leadership and commitment helped shape Medicine Hat’s rich sporting tradition and left a lasting legacy in community and elite sport development.

Description Involved in minor soccer, hockey, baseball and the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede for over 20 years. Developed competitive hockey in Medicine Hat through the Joyline Blades in the 1960’s and the Medicine Hat Senior Monarchs. Re-established Junior A Hockey with the Medicine Hat Tigers in 1971. Note: This inductee was originally part of the community’s 'Wall of Fame' and was transferred to the 'Sports Wall of Fame' in 2010.
