Zorislav Krco

Sensei Zorislav Krco is celebrated for his extensive contributions to Karate as a teacher, trainer, coach, examiner, and competitor. Born in the former Yugoslav Republic of Bosnia & Herzegovina, he began his career as an elementary school teacher. Driven by his deep passion for Karate and facing hardships at home, Zorislav relocated, taking his martial arts journey with him.

With over 48 years dedicated to Karate, Sensei Zorislav has achieved the esteemed rank of 8th Dan. His commitment and perseverance are supported by his mentor, Sensei Vladimir Yorga, who played a pivotal role in his development. Zorislav's international career includes competition and teaching stints across Europe before settling in Canada. For the past 23 years, he has been a cornerstone at the Medicine Hat YMCA, which he affectionately regards as his second home.

Sensei Zorislav is a Class A certified international instructor of Traditional Fudokan Shotokan Karate and holds a Class A Karate Examiner's License. His influence has guided numerous students to compete and succeed at provincial, national, and international levels—including the World Championships in the USA, Poland, Serbia, and the Czech Republic, where they have won gold, silver, and bronze medals.

He champions a personalized approach, tailoring his teachings to the unique needs of each student with a focus on respect, discipline, and organization—traits he believes are essential for success in life.

His students often recount the profound impact he has had on their lives, noting his dedication, positivity, and traditional approach to applying Karate's principles to everyday challenges.
