Portable skate ramp initiative launching in Medicine Hat
Starting Friday, June 5, the City of Medicine Hat’s Parks and Recreation department will install yet another exciting new outdoor recreational amenity for the public to enjoy.
Portable skate ramps will be coming to two outdoor rink locations this summer, starting with the recently rebuilt East Glen Rink on Friday. These ramps allow residents to enjoy more versatile, year-round use at outdoor rink locations around the community.
“We’re excited to have these ramps join our two permanent skate parks in Kin Coulee and NE Crescent Heights and a skate spot in Saamis Rotary Park as offerings for the rapidly growing skating community in Medicine Hat,” said Jeremy Patton, Project Manager. “Portable amenities like these increase the public’s access to new recreational opportunities and maximize existing recreational spaces. We look forward to what the inaugural year of this service will bring.”
2026 locations and schedule
These portable ramps will be offered in two locations per year that aren’t near existing skateboarding amenities.
- June-July: East Glen Rink
- August-September: Heald Rink (Riverside)
The public will have an opportunity to influence locations for 2027 once the 2026 season has concluded.
