Development incentives provide financial assistance to help spur growth, expansion and innovation in our community.
The City Centre Vibrancy Incentive is designed to provide financial assistance to local business owners to incentivize the improvement and upgrading of properties within the downtown City Centre. Owners of commercial properties within the City Centre can apply and may be eligible for up to a 50% matching incentive, to a maximum of $25,000.

The Housing Infill and Redevelopment Incentive, is designed to provide financial assistance to local developers and property owners and incentivize the rapid development and construction of infill properties. Owners of an infill property can apply and may be eligible for an incentive of $15,000 per dwelling unit, up to a maximum of $750,000, for new residential development on a single site.

The Brownfield Redevelopment Tax Incentive, will provide financial assistance to non-residential property owners to remediate brownfield sites located within the City of Medicine Hat by providing tax relief for a period of up to five (5) years.
Please note: Submitting an application does not guarantee approval. Incentive applications will be reviewed on a first come first serve basis until the funds are allocated.
The Non-Residential Tax Incentive, will provide financial assistance to property owners in the City of Medicine Hat to develop large-scale commercial or industrial developments that result in tax assessment growth and job creation.

Machinery and Equipment Tax Exemption
Medicine Hat’s Bylaw under the Municipal Government Act Section 364 (1.1) exempts Machinery and Equipment from taxation.
Tree Vouchers
Tree Vouchers are available for new properties zoned R-LD in the following subdivisions. Limited to one per qualifying property. Contact land@medicinehat.ca to see if your property qualifies.
