The purpose of the AAIP Rural Renewal Stream is to address current labour needs and skill shortages.

Designated communities work with local employers to recruit and retain newcomers for workforce stability and economic growth in the community. SAIP Rural Renewal is a service that can offer permanence and security for employers and non-permanent residents who qualify.

With SAIP Rural Renewal, employers have access to a global talent pool of educated and experienced people. Participating employers can recruit from within Alberta, within Canada, or outside of Canada. A Rural Renewal Stream candidate is a foreign national, meaning the candidate does not have permanent residence or Canadian citizenship. Southeast Alberta currently has more than 1000 foreign national temporary workers contributing to the economy every day.
