Medicine Hat Showcases Community at First-Ever “This is Medicine Hat” Event
Medicine Hat made a memorable impression at the Calgary Stampede on July 4 with the inaugural “This is Medicine Hat” event, hosted at Craft Beer Market in downtown Calgary. The event brought together partners, community leaders, business stakeholders, government representatives, and guests from across Alberta and Canada to celebrate the city's growing momentum and showcase the opportunities that make Medicine Hat a great place to live, work, invest, and visit.
The event was a collaborative initiative involving Medicine Hat Economic Development, Medicine Hat College, the Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Medicine Hat, the Medicine Hat Accommodations Association, and the Medicine Hat Sport and Event Council, highlighting the power of regional partnerships in advancing shared economic and community goals.
“'This is Medicine Hat' was a tremendous example of what can be accomplished when organizations come together around a common vision,” said Selena McLean-Moore, Director of Medicine Hat Economic Development. “The strength of our partnerships allows us to amplify Medicine Hat's story, build meaningful connections, and showcase the opportunities that exist in our community. The response we received from attendees across Alberta and Canada reinforces that Medicine Hat continues to attract attention as a place for investment, business growth, talent attraction, tourism, and innovation."
The inaugural event drew a diverse audience and created valuable opportunities to engage with industry leaders, associations, government representatives, and elected officials. Attendees learned more about Medicine Hat's economic strengths, quality of life, educational opportunities, tourism experiences, and vibrant business community.
The gathering also welcomed several distinguished guests, including Premier Danielle Smith, Minister Justin Wright, MP Glen Motz, Mayor Linnsie Clark, Councillor Cheryl Phaff, Councillor Dan Reynish, Councillor Yusuf Mohammed, and Councillor Bill Cocks, who joined the celebration and helped highlight the city's growing profile on the provincial and national stage.
The success of the first-ever “This is Medicine Hat” event demonstrates the community's commitment to collaboration and promotion while strengthening relationships that support future economic growth and investment attraction.
