Developed in collaboration with workforce development experts and local employers, Competency Match provides a structured approach to recruitment that helps organizations look beyond traditional credentials and better assess a candidate's ability to perform in a role.

As the name for a small group of houses, The Spur might seem a bit idiosyncratic at first thought. Beyond the obvious country western connotations – Ranchlands, anyone? – there’s a deeper connection to the neighbourhood and its origins. As a noun, a spur is an offshoot: something extending away from a larger body. As a verb, to spur is to stimulate, encourage or create momentum. Both meanings fit the City of Medicine Hat’s newest addition to Ranchlands.

The Province of Alberta is investing in the Southeast Alberta agri-food sector by funding a multi-year regional initiative focused on strengthening the region’s agri-food sector and enhancing investment readiness with their Northern and Regional Economic Development (NRED) grant. Funding has been awarded to the County of Forty Mile – one of the partners on the Steering Committee for the Southeast Alberta Economic Opportunity Strategy, along with the City of Medicine Hat, Town of Redcliff, Town of Bow Island, and the Village of Foremost, alongside industry and institutional partners. 

River Dental discusses the importance of a thriving downtown core and their involvement with MHED and the City Centre Vibrancy Program. As they put it, the program helps make downtown spaces “more functional, welcoming and attractive for businesses.”

Camp Ice Cream began with a homemade ice cream recipe and encouragement from friends and family. Since officially opening in 2020, the Medicine Hat business has grown to include a production facility, two retail locations and a food truck that regularly attends farmers’ markets and community events.

Medicine Hat made a memorable impression at the Calgary Stampede on July 4 with the inaugural “This is Medicine Hat” event, hosted at Craft Beer Market in downtown Calgary. The event showcased the opportunities that make Medicine Hat a great place to live, work, invest, and visit.
