2024 Saamis Tepee upgrades

Medicine Hat – Work to upgrade the Saamis Tepee will begin early April 2024 and is expected to take several weeks, with an anticipated completion at the end of October, weather permitting.

The current scope of work involves a repaint of the Tepee including repainting the steel portions of the structure from top to bottom. The project will see the Tepee's zigzag decorative structure, featuring red and blue colors, matched to its previous 2009 and 2010 repaint. Additionally, the main white structure and the two mast extension tips will be completely repainted.

The backside of the circular sign boards attached to the Tepee will undergo repainting to match the existing colors. The front art faces of these boards are excluded from this project and will be carefully protected during the project.

During the construction period, the Tepee will not be available for the  ‘Lighting for a Cause’ program from April 11 to Oct. 30.

The walking paths around the Tepee will remain accessible, but the vehicle access gate may be closed intermittently to maintain work site safety. See the full extent of the site layout and access points.

The City thanks residents for their patience during the necessary upgrades and construction.
