Airport Master Plan public engagement ready for takeoff

The City of Medicine Hat is set to conduct public engagement efforts as part of its Airport Master Plan development for the Medicine Hat Regional Airport (YXH). Development of the City’s Airport Master Plan began in 2024. Its purpose is to guide the future of YXH and establish its long-term vision for the next 20 years based on feedback from stakeholders, community members, and businesses.

Once complete, the plan will lay out a systematic and structured approach for how YXH will support the air transportation needs of the region by taking care of its infrastructure, making improvements aligned with forecast demand, and finding new ways to help the economy and community.

Public engagement opportunities include five pop-up events around the City, as well as a survey to provide residents, organizations, and businesses from the region with a chance to share their perspectives on the future of YXH.

There are several ways to influence the Airport Master Plan at these events and in the survey, including the following:

  • Identifying what value YXH provides to you
  • Sharing your priorities to help shape the airport's vision and mission
  • Providing your view on what success is for YXH in the future
