Alberta Transportation to replace concrete panels on Highway 1 through Medicine Hat
Medicine Hat – On May 1, 2023, Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors will begin work to remove and replace failing concrete pavement panels on the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) through Medicine Hat.
Construction is concentrated on two main intersections at 6th Street SW near the Wyndham Garden Medicine Hat Conference Center and at 16th Street SW near the Husky/Esso.
Traffic is expected to flow in both directions during the projected five-week construction, though motorists should expect delays due to lane closures and speed reductions and should consider alternate routes if possible.
Since concrete takes up to three days to cure, lanes will remain closed with no visible work activity at times. Motorists are reminded to obey all barricades and traffic signage, and do not enter blocked lanes for safety and a successful repair.
Residents can follow the status of the project at 511.alberta.ca.
