August 19 City Council meeting cancelled

Medicine Hat – City Council has cancelled the Aug. 19 City Council meeting citing a lack of agenda items.

When reviewing the agenda items for the meeting, administration advised that the non-statutory public hearing previously advertised to occur at this meeting (related to Bylaw 4803 to revise the Off-site Levy Bylaw) must be postponed to Sept. 3 due to unavoidable circumstances. With this necessary postponement, the only item of business remaining on the agenda was the first reading of a bylaw, which was deemed not time sensitive.

Following required consultation, it was determined that for the sake of efficiency the meeting would be cancelled pursuant to Procedure Bylaw 4725 Section 4.18(a)(i):  “The Mayor may cancel or postpone a Regular Meeting in consultation with the other Councillors and the City Manager not less than twenty-four (24) hours in advance if there is no business on the agenda that must be completed prior to the next Regular Meeting.”

The next City Council meeting is Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.
