Capital Grant program’s Small Funding Stream open

The City of Medicine Hat is accepting expressions of interest for the Small Funding Stream of its Capital Grant program. Expressions of interest must be submitted by Tuesday, March 31 at 3 p.m.

The Capital Grant program, which contains small and large funding streams, was created in 2025. The grant program’s purpose is to provide non-profit organizations in the city with a straightforward and standardized way to submit funding requests for capital projects. This process ensures a transparent and consistent framework for evaluating requests with the aim of fostering partnerships that support community-focused initiatives.

A Capital project is defined as:

  • Development or betterment of assets having physical substance (including land or land leases less than fair market value).
  • Assets which have a useful life beyond one year, are used on a continuing basis, and are not for sale as part of regular operations.

The Small Funding Stream is for capital requests under $300,000 and covers up to 50 per cent of eligible project costs.

While there are two funding streams in the Capital Grant program, there is only one expression of interest form on the City’s website. Requests over $300,000 will automatically be adjudicated as Large Funding Stream requests, which have no submission deadline.
