City accepting applications to repurpose seacans

Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat has opened the application window for proposals to repurpose one or more of the eight seacans previously located downtown.

Individuals, businesses, organizations, and community groups are invited to propose innovative and impactful ways to transform these seacans into valuable community assets.

Proposals for these seacans must highlight a balance of community benefit and taxpayer value, which could include financial compensation to aid in cost recovery. City staff have developed 10 criteria within a scoring rubric to gauge the balance of these and eight other elements.

Applicants will be asked to submit a brief project proposal online. Applications will be accepted online until Friday, February 21, 2025 at 3 p.m. Applicants must be a resident of Medicine Hat and the project must be located within city limits. Successful applicants will be advised by Friday, March 7, 2025.

Applicants are encouraged to review the application guidelines document, including scoring rubric, before submitting proposals. For more information on the application process and the timeline of this initiative, visit the project page on Shape Your City.
