City announces new Chief Financial Officer

Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat has hired Jilian Campbell as the Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director of Corporate Services.

Campbell will relocate to Medicine Hat from Edmonton, where she most recently served as Manager of Strategic Planning and Financial Coordination with Strathcona County from 2021 to 2025. Prior to that, she held municipal leadership positions in finance, strategic planning, internal controls, customer service centres, and budget planning with the City of Edmonton for over 20 years.

“We are excited to welcome Jilian onboard,” said City Manager, Ann Mitchell. “She brings significant experience in municipal budget planning to our organization, and we look forward to having her on the executive leadership team.”

With a bachelor’s degree in accounting science from the University of Calgary, as well as a Chartered Professional Accountant designation, Campbell’s core skills include financial acumen and stewardship, strategic leadership and governance, compliance, internal audit and controls. She is also in pursuit of an executive certificate in Municipal Leadership, is certified in change management, project management, and project leadership, and holds a Lean Green Belt certification from the Leading Edge Group.

“I am honoured to join the City of Medicine Hat and I look forward to collaborating and connecting with the organization to support the community,” said Campbell.

Campbell will commence in the role on March 31, 2025.
