City Centre Vibrancy Program launches August 13
Medicine Hat – The City Centre Vibrancy Program, a funding initiative aimed at supporting local businesses and property owners in enhancing the visual appeal of their commercial space, is set to launch on August 13, 2025.
The program, offered via a partnership between the City of Medicine Hat and Community Futures Entre-Corp, is designed to encourage improvement projects in the city centre by offering financial support through a combination of grant funding and interest-free loans.
To qualify, applicants must be a business owner and/or the registered property owner of a commercial space located within the defined city centre boundaries. Eligible improvements include facade upgrades, signage, lighting, accessibility enhancements, and other improvements that contribute to a more welcoming and vibrant city centre.
“The City Centre Vibrancy program is a meaningful way we can help our downtown businesses. By supporting projects that enhance storefronts, activate public spaces, and attract foot traffic, we’re investing in a more vibrant, welcoming, and resilient city centre”, said Selena McLean-Moore, Director of Economic Development with the City of Medicine Hat. “These grants not only strengthen individual businesses but also contribute to the overall economic and social health of our community.”
The program includes two options for up to a maximum of $30,000 per applicant.
- A grant of up to $15,000, funded by the City of Medicine Hat through Medicine Hat Economic Development.
- An interest-free loan of up to $15,000, provided by Community Futures Entre-Corp, with the City funding the interest costs.
The application process will open online on August 13, 2025.
