City Council seeking host for podcast pilot
Medicine Hat – The City is seeking expressions of interest for a host for Public Matters, a podcast designed to engage the Mayor, City Council, and administration in informal discussions on matters of City interest. The Public Matters podcast will support the City’s communication efforts by providing another avenue for residents to become informed about City Council perspectives and decisions as well as City programs, initiatives, and topics of interest.
“We’re excited to launch a pilot podcast to the community, and finding the right host is an important first step in producing a podcast that is both informative and entertaining,” said public relations advisor to Mayor and Council, Rachel St. Jean. “Many municipalities are engaging in podcasts as one more way to share information and connect with the community. We’re looking forward to seeing who might be interested in hosting this pilot series, as well as the community’s interest in a local government podcast.”
The host will be responsible for facilitating discussion and providing community perspective during each production. Concerted effort will be required to choose topics, develop questions, and produce podcasts that are both informative and appealing to listeners. Valuable attributes of a host include familiarity with the City and its services, initiatives, programs and challenges; a conscientious approach to research; a respectful and thoughtful demeanor; and experience in facilitating meaningful discussion that explores a variety of points of views.
Those interested in responding to the expression of interest can download the information package at https://medicinehat.bidsandtenders.ca/Module/Tenders/en. The deadline for submissions is August 16, 2022.
