City Hall modifies occupancy limits and public access

Medicine Hat – As the Government of Alberta enters Step 1 of the plan to lift public health measures related to COVID-19, the City of Medicine Hat has reopened regular public access to City Hall at 580 First Street SE.

Effective Monday, Feb. 14, patrons can access City Hall through each of the three public entrances:

  • Southwest corner of building near the sundial
  • East-facing main entrance facing the clock tower
  • Through the parkade elevator (access off River Road SE)

The two-hour free public parking in the underground parkade is now reinstated. Commissionaires will no longer station at the entrances to monitor access and will revert back to standard security duties.

The public occupancy limits for Council chambers are removed and residents are welcome back in person.

Capacity limits remain in effect for other internal boardrooms in City Hall, impacting public attendance for standing committee meetings. Remote attendance continues to be available until further notice. The City will revisit these protocols when the province moves to Step 2 of their plan.

Staff and patrons are still required to wear masks indoors, and other measures like barriers, sanitization stations, and physical distancing remain in place.

Those who wish to continue doing business remotely with the City of Medicine Hat are encouraged to visit www.medicinehat.ca or call 403-529-8100.

Last week, in accordance with the Government of Alberta guidelines, the City removed the proof of vaccination requirements at facilities that were operating under the Restrictions Exemption Program.
