City hires new Managing Director of Corporate Services/CFO

The City of Medicine Hat is pleased to announce that following a fulsome recruitment process, a new Managing Director of Corporate Services/CFO has been selected. Mustansar Nadeem (DBA(c), MBA, CPA) has accepted the role.  

Nadeem brings with him expertise in executive leadership, financial management, corporate services, risk management and stakeholder engagement. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Mount Allison University, an MBA from Laurentian University and is currently a doctoral candidate (Business Administration) at Royal Roads University. 

He commenced his financial management career as an accountant, working in various industries including Northwest Territories Power Corporation. He moved into a Finance Director role in Saskatchewan and the CFO role at Olds College. It was at Olds College where he continued his executive career as the Vice President of Corporate Services. Most recently, Nadeem has been an Executive Director with the Edmonton North Primary Care Network. 

“We look forward to the extensive knowledge base and strategic and collaborative skill set that Mustansar brings to the role, along with two decades of leadership experience in complex public sector organizations,” said Interim City Manager, Joe Hutter. “His calm, principled presence and coaching mindset will be an excellent addition to the Executive Leadership team.” 

Lola Barta, Director of Finance, served as Acting Managing Director of Corporate Services while a recruitment to fill the role permanently took place.  

“I want to thank Lola for her support over the past several months,” added Hutter. “Her support ensured the Corporate Services division kept running smoothly.” 

Nadeem will commence in the role on May 4, 2026.
