City launches COVID campaign, supported by Alberta Health Services
Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat, together with Alberta Health Services (AHS), is encouraging residents to get vaccinated and remain vigilant against the spread of COVID-19.
As active cases continue to increase, the City is launching a campaign encouraging all residents to get vaccinated and take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
In Alberta, active case numbers are currently highest among adults between the ages of 20 and 39. Those who have not yet been fully vaccinated are the highest risk for contracting COVID-19.
“We have made significant progress against COVID-19, particularly through uptake in vaccines,” said Merrick Brown, Director of Emergency Management for the City of Medicine Hat. “However, we have seen a rapid increase in cases of COVID-19 here in Medicine Hat and getting your vaccination is more important than ever.”
The City and AHS are reminding residents to take basic steps to protect themselves and their loved one from all respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19 and influenza.
- Stay home when sick
- Wash or sanitize your hands often
- Cover your coughs and sneezes
- Avoid touching your face, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
- Clean and disinfect surfaces that are frequently touched
“If you're eligible and have not been immunized yet, please book your immunization appointment as soon as possible,” Brown added.
Appointments can be booked online through Alberta Health Services.
