City launches new MHTapp

The City of Medicine Hat’s all-new MHTapp has launched today, allowing transit users to plan and book both regular and on-demand transit trips in one convenient place. Transit users can download the mobile app or choose an online desktop version to suit their trip-planning needs.

The new MHTapp, rebranded from the previous MHTnow app, combines Medicine Hat Transit’s regular and on-demand transit services into an all-in-one travel hub.

“Medicine Hat Transit is committed to providing quality tools which support reliability and value for our riders in everything we do,” said Gordon Dykstra, Manager of Transit Services with the City of Medicine Hat. “With the launch of the MHTapp, we’re making transit simpler, smarter, and more connected. This gives our riders the freedom to plan their journey with confidence and make transit travel across the city more efficient than ever.”

App users can now choose faster, more direct trips with the most efficient pick-up and drop-off locations and the most efficient bus route for their intended destination.

Once users access the MHTapp and optionally create an account, planning a trip is a simple process:

    1. Enter the starting point and destination of the trip.
    2. Several trip options will be provided, including bus stop location and departure times, allowing users to select the trip that suits their schedule.
    3. Get notifications right in the app to know when to expect the bus and where to wait. Use the app to track their bus, or receive a text to know when it will arrive in real time.
    4. Meet the bus and enjoy the ride!

Users can also stay ahead of the curve with additional rider alerts and live updates, including road conditions, schedule changes, and regular route adjustments. Transit users won’t have to search for the latest service impacts – they will now be delivered right to users in real time.
