City lifts remaining COVID restrictions
Medicine Hat – In following the guidance from the Government of Alberta on easing measures and entering Step 2, the City of Medicine Hat will work to lift many of the remaining restrictions in place throughout city facilities effective Tuesday, March 1. This includes lifting:
- Capacity limits on all large venues and entertainment venues
- Indoor gathering sizes
- Indoor masking no longer required
Please note that in accordance with these guidelines, masks will remain a requirement for transit riders. More information can be found on the City website.
“Our organization has had to change and evolve throughout the pandemic, incorporating both operational and technical innovations. Some of these changes, like our increased video conferencing capacity, remain advantageous, so we will keep them,” said Mayor Linnsie Clark. “Similarly, even though measures put in place in response to the COVID-19 virus are being relaxed, we should all continue stay home when sick and to practice good hand hygiene, because we know these measures help keep our community safe and healthy.”
The City has installed a number of physical safety features, such as plexiglass screens in City facilities. These measures will remain for the time being.
“Remember to be caring and considerate of each other. Many of us have, or know someone who has, some underlying health condition. This means there will be a variety of approaches to how we each manage ourselves and interactions day by day. Our caring, empathy and respect will help us all find the balance that we need,” Clark added.
