City of Medicine Hat Reaches Enhanced COVID Status
“The case numbers in our community have been relatively low throughout the pandemic, but we’re seeing a significant increase, which is obviously concerning,” says Merrick Brown, Director of Emergency Management. “Now is the time for our community to be vigilant – we must take action to reduce the spread of this virus.”
The City of Medicine Hat is advising residents to follow all guidelines and restrictions put forth by Alberta Health consistently, including limiting social gatherings to 15 people while in the enhanced status.
“We recognize how challenging these restrictions are for our community, but we all need to do our part to slow this spread,” says Robert Nicolay, Chief Administrative Officer with the City of Medicine Hat. “Significant sacrifices in the short-term are the most effective way for us to reverse this trend.”
Residents are also reminded to exercise patience and care with one another, particularly those who have been impacted by the virus and health care workers.
“We’ve heard dreadful stories about the negative treatment of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 and our health care workers who have been working tirelessly during the pandemic,” says Nicolay. “It’s time for us to put aside our personal views and treat one another with respect, patience, kindness and dignity.”
Residents are encouraged to keep up to date on the evolving COVID-19 situation.
