Council Highlights April 20 2020
Through Administrative Committee, Council received for information Request for Proposal (RFP) Recommendation FS20-06 – Supply of Light Duty Vehicles. The RFP was awarded to the best evaluated bidder meeting specification, Murray Chevrolet Cadillac, in an amount up to $635,000.00.
Through Administrative Committee, Council received for information Tender Recommendation R20-26 – Family Leisure Centre Parking Lot Improvements. The tender was awarded to the best evaluated bidder meeting specifications, Aecon Transportation West Ltd., in the amount of $1,407,132.00.
Through Audit Committee, City Council received for information the Tri-Annual Management Report for the period ending December 31, 2019; the 2019 Capital Project and Major Operating Expense Over-Expended/Under-Expended/Cancelled Projects Report as at December 31, 2019; and the 2018 Municipal Indicators Report.
City Council, through Administrative Committee, approved a Natural Gas and Petroleum Resources (NGPR) budget amendment of up to $125 million for the NGPR Abandonment and Reclamation (A&R) Program and the 2020 Tangible Capital Asset Budget update. The A&R program will cover 1996 shallow gas wells and related pipelines and will take approximately 10-years to complete. It will be financed through a combination of working capital ($45 million) and debenture borrowing ($80 million). The A&R program ensures the City is fostering the wellbeing of the environment by safely meeting end of life obligations for its energy development activities.
Through Administrative Committee, Council received for information Tender Recommendation – UDS20-03 – UDS Parking Lot Rehabilitation. The tender was awarded to the lowest bid meeting specification Aecon Transportation West Ltd., in the amount of $920,795.00.
City Council received for information the Municipal Planning Commission minutes of March 11, 2020.
City Council approved first reading of the following bylaws:
- Bylaw #4594, a bylaw to amend the Hamptons Area Structure Plan
- Bylaw #4626, a road closure bylaw intended to close a portion of Viscount Avenue SW to support the redevelopment of the entrance to the Medicine Hat Regional Airport.
- Bylaw #4627, a bylaw to incur indebtedness in the amount of $80 million for the purpose of the 2020 NGPR Abandonment and Reclamation Program.
Through Administrative Committee, City Council approved the 2019 City of Medicine Hat Financial Statements.
