Lola Barta, Director of Finance, presented to City Council on Property Tax Principles and Guidelines. Ms. Barta described the City’s property tax principles and administrative guidelines as a framework to setting municipal property tax rates in the coming months.
Council received the minutes of the Energy and Infrastructure Committee meeting of March 17 for information and approved a recommendation to engage with the Alberta Services Municipal Corporation on the early stages of adopting the Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP) in Medicine Hat, drafting a CEIP bylaw and exploring financing and grant opportunities for the program through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
Council received the minutes of the Administrative Committee of March 23 for information with the proposed road closure for 14 Avenue SW for adoption. The closure would facilitate the consolidation of Block 47 and a portion of the 14 Avenue SW road to make land available for the proposed Residuals Solids Handling Facility at the Power and Water Treatment Plant. A public hearing on the road closure will occur on May 16, 2022.
Council received the minutes of the Corporate Services Committee meeting of March 24 for information.
Council received the minutes of the Public Services Committee meeting of March 28 for information and approved the resignation of Patsy Buffalo Calf and the appointment of Darrell Willier to the Truth and Reconciliation Recommendations Committee.
City Council approved first reading of Bylaw #4700, a bylaw of the City of Medicine Hat to close roads in the City of Medicine Hat. A public hearing on the road closure will occur on May 16, 2022.
