Council Highlights December 2, 2024

Under Councillor Announcements:

  • Councillor Dumanowski offered a tribute to former Chief Administrative Officer of the City of Medicine Hat, Ray Barnard, who passed away on October 1, 2024.

City Council received the following items into the corporate record:

  • Council Committee of the Whole Meeting Minutes of November 13, 2024
  • Corporate Services Committee Meeting Minutes of November 14, 2024
  • Administrative and Legislative Review Committee Meeting Minutes of November 19, 2024
  • Development and Infrastructure Committee Meeting Minutes of November 21, 2024

City Council received the following items for information:

  • Division Avenue South – Road Rehabilitation/Upgrade Project Status
  • Fire and Emergency Services Water Response Service Transition
  • 2025 - 2026 Business Plans
  • Regular Medicine Hat City Council of December 02, 2024
  • Corporate Services Committee Action Items of November 14, 2024
  • Administrative and Legislative Review Committee Action Items of November 19, 2024
  • Development and Infrastructure Committee Action Items of November 21, 2024

Paul Carolan, Chief Executive Officer for HALO Air Ambulance, provided a presentation to City Council on the service that HALO provides in southeastern Alberta.

Under Committee Business, City Council:

  • Received a presentation from Carlie Collier, Municipal Engineer, who provided an update on the Southwest Regional Stormwater Drainage Committee. Following the presentation, City Council approved the authorization of a representative to signal the City's intent to enter into the Governance Agreement.

Under New Business:

  • Administration presented the 2025 - 2026 City Budget and Financial Plan for City Council consideration. Following the presentation and discussion, City Council approved a motion to adjourn the meeting and have administration bring the item back to the December 16 meeting of City Council for decision.

The final two items on the agenda, Local Growth and Sustainability Grant program and Budget Amendment Policy 0183, were also be deferred to the December 16 meeting.
