Carter Gramlich and Keziah Lesko-Gosselin, Co-chairs of Bike Medicine Hat, presented to Council on the efforts of Bike Medicine Hat and their work with the City of Medicine Hat to encourage active transportation and support a healthy community.
Council received the minutes of the Energy and Infrastructure Committee meeting of February 3 for information.
Council received the minutes of the Administrative Committee of February 9 for information with two items for adoption: Bylaw #4690, a bylaw of the City of Medicine Hat to amend Bylaw #2270, the Procedures Bylaw for adoption, and Bylaw #4695, a bylaw of the City of Medicine Hat to close roads in the City of Medicine Hat.
Council received the minutes of the Corporate Services Committee meeting of February 10 for information.
Council received minutes of the Public Services Committee meeting of February 14 for information.
Council received the minutes of the Administrative Committee meeting of February 16 for information with the following for approval or adoption:
- Approved offer to purchase 48 Ranchlands Boulevard;
- Approved offer to purchase 1752 10Avenue SW;
- Approved offer to purchase 13 remaining residential lots in Southlands 4A;
- Received Bylaw #4492 Council Code of Conduct for adoption;
- Approved Immediate Relief for Utility Bills.
Council received the minutes of the Police Commission meeting of January 27 for information.
City Council passed first, second and third reading of Bylaw #4690, a bylaw of the City of Medicine Hat to amend Bylaw #2270, the Procedure Bylaw. The amendment will see the addition of an Economic, Land and Strategic Planning and Development Committee and an Emergency Advisory Committee; allow Council to, by resolution, adopt terms of reference for standing committees; and update committee names and descriptions to align with the current organizational structure.
City Council passed first, second and third reading of Bylaw #4694, a bylaw of the City of Medicine Hat to amend Bylaw No. 4492, the Council Code of Conduct Bylaw. The Code of Conduct bylaw must be reviewed every four years, and the review resulted in clarification of language in two subsections in the bylaw.
City Council passed first reading of Bylaw #4695, a bylaw of the City of Medicine Hat to close roads in the City of Medicine Hat. City Council’s approval is required to close the lane/road west of 511 Spencer Street SE as a first step to consolidate the 203, 301, 507 and 511 Spencer Street lots in order consolidate the entire property in preparation for sale.
Under new business, City Council appointed Rochelle Pancoast as Acting City Manager. The appointment is effective March 1, 2022 and will be in place until March 8, 2022.
City Clerk, Angela Cruickshank, acknowledged Kathy Eden’s last Council meeting as Assistant City Clerk and wished her well in her new role with the City.
