Council Highlights November 1 2021

Medicine Hat’s 2021-2025 City Council was officially sworn into office on Monday evening. City Clerk Angela Cruickshank administered the Oath of Office for Mayor Linnsie Clark, Councillor Robert Dumanowski, Councillor Cassi Hider, Councillor Darren Hirsch, Councillor Allison Knodel, Councillor Andy McGrogan, Councillor Ramona Robins, Councillor Shila Sharps and Councillor Alison Van Dyke.

The swearing-in ceremony at Council Chambers was attended by family and guests of incoming Council members and was supplemented with a public viewing at the Esplanade where guests watched the livestream together. The event was also broadcast on Shaw Spotlight and streamed on the City’s YouTube Channel where it remains for viewing anytime. A special highlight video is also available on YouTube.

Rondi Korven, executive assistant to the Corporate Services division, performed O Canada.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, Council determined committee and partnership appointments and confirmed the committee meeting schedule.

Highway 3 Twinning Association: Councillor D. Hirsch
Regional Drainage Committee: Councillor A. Van Dyke

Council will now continue their orientation process and reconvene at the first official Council meeting of this term taking place on Monday, November 15.
