Mayor Clark provided her inaugural address for the new City Council term:
In her address, Mayor Clark highlighted the vital role of trust - “the machinery humming quietly underneath everything we do” - as the foundation of community and civilization. She noted that civic engagement is declining, economic inequality is growing, and social media often distorts real human interaction, contributing to polarization and distrust in governments. To rebuild this trust, she emphasized transparency, local decision-making, institutional memory, responsible use of digital platforms, and strengthening our shared community stories and traditions. She also underscored the importance of principle-based leadership, noting that by keeping our promises, communities can restore cooperation, justice, and a shared sense of civic responsibility.
